Backlogged events

Pretty much a lot of things happened in the time between my last update and now. I don't think I can get everything, mainly because the feelings are already different. Haha. Anyway. I'll do my best writing what ever it is I opened this window to write.

So Neurology posting has already ended last Saturday, today I started a new posting. Right now, doing ENT though still at the same hospital. It's sort of weird still being at the same hospital when all your group mates who shared all the ups and downs and the weirdness of the last posting together. I'll never get used to this. It sort of feels like being abandoned somehow. I know, rather dramatic but yeah. I end up feeling lonely. Like now. I'm still living at the same kost I used during Neurology, because moving is such a hassle and morning commute from jakarta is a nightmare born from the depths of public transportation hell. So yeah. But because Nadia and Atiqah used to live here to, it feels kinda weird. Not that I usually went to hang out at their room or anything, but the feeling that there's someone else there, sort of feels safe. Not that there aren't any friends here, there are. But yeah.

So ENT posting? Nothing to comment on yet. It's just been the first day. I'm sleepy and I don't really want to study. A feeling sadly, that has been prevailing recently. I say I'm tired. Not physically, the weekend really helped. But mentally. I can't take it anymore maybe? I need a break. That's what I want.

Actually, I want to go home. I really, really want to go home. But circumstances do not seem in my favor. Hasn't been. Doesn't seem to be heading in that general direction either. So, yeah. Kinda sucks at the moment.
I don't know.
Feeling kinda lethargic.

In other recent happenings, we were called the worst group ever to pass through the vaulted halls of the RSBY Neurology posting. Yeah. We were just that dumb apparently. Even me. But expectations are generally far from reality, and the reality is I'm kinda dumb as well. So yeah. You can take your expectations and shove it some place where the sun don't shine. Or something.

Question; if I don't reach (or even exceed) someone's expectation of me, is it my fault for not trying hard enough (or for not being smart enough) or is it their fault for being unrealistic?

I know who I'm blaming of course. If you know me well you would know as well.  I wonder if anyone knows me that well? Huh.

I have a recent vague feeling of being, well... vague. Like I don't leave any sort of impression anywhere. Like I just pass through. Like smoke. Or something. Maybe it's just me. I mean, I get surprised when people know who I am during pre-clinic days. It feels like I haven't made any deep relations. But I don't know why that feels so important to me right now.

One of my consultants during Neurology said to me,"I can see you have a lot of drive, but if you want to succeed, you should find friends who have the same drive as you."
In a way, he was telling me to not be friends with my group mates? I have no idea. But I was generally burnt out around the third week, so it was all down hill from there. At full speed ahead because some one cut the brakes.

And it all ended with a spectacular explosion.

Recently, I finished watching Matsujun's latest drama Lucky 7. Though for the most part there were only six because one of the mains had a movie filming as well and was unavailable. Haha. It's the first Matsujun drama I finished and actually liked since Hana Yori Dango. And that's saying something. Because Hana Yori Dango 1 was in 2007-ish. Or was it 2006-ish? Either abouts lah. Pretty awesome. Especially the action scenes. Because Matsujun is bad ass in it. Though Eita's character pretty much steals the show every time he appears. Maybe it's good he had to go for movie filming. Haha. Poor Matssun. But his new hair cut is cool.

I miss fangirling Arashi with my group of friends. We'd got to karaoke and sing japanese songs even if none of us actually know how to read kanji and sometimes end up making up words as we go along. It's fun. And we'd always try to finish the session with A-Ra-Shi. Hahaha. It's kinda cute.

Anything else? I should try to sleep maybe? Since I still have to go in tomorrow. Minor posting or not, it generally sucks.

Ah well. Till next time. When I make more sense probably.

Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to mummy. You're awesome. Because if you weren't then I wouldn't be awesome. And I am awesome. Which of course, means you're awesome. Logic. Pure and simple.

P to the R to the O to the ...

Hello. I'm here. Taking some time to finally write an update. Just to show my future self when I trawl the older post buttons that, in May, I was actually stupid enough to write a post when I should have been studying. Or something.

Four weeks in, next week. Psychiatry posting. It has changed my views on psychiatry, that's for sure but sadly, I still don't really like it. It's kind of too abstract and subjective. Even for medicine. So yeah. Psychodynamics is interesting though. But that's not something we do. It would make a very interesting intellectual argument however. I was actually tempted to write an entry about existentialism and the defense mechanisms, because it really is interesting. I mean, how can something threaten your existence so much that you run away to a different reality all together? How can wanting something so much, but not being able to achieve it results in having a skewed perception of reality. How can some experiences be so harrowing a you have to bury it deeper and deeper and in some cases, just run away all together? All very interesting questions. And not something that I can answer. I just find myself recently having a new kind of respect for all the "crazies" we see on the roads and everywhere. They're just really, really sick, you know? Here's to advances in psychiatry. Not me though. I'm not touching this stuff again after I finish here. Unless I absolutely have to.

What have I been doing? Three case presentations, am writing/translating a paper in which I also have to do a presentation for next week (this week), studying for exams on the fifth week. I miss having lectures. Weird, but I always have been rather academical.

Anyway, like the background? Messing with your eyes, and increasing your minus, akunona.

On more lighter news, Arashi is releasing the Dome DVD for their "kimi to boku" concert on the 15th of June. Which I have secured (YATTA). And a new album called "Beautiful World" and an ensuing tour in which some proceeds will be donated towards the Tohoku earthquake fund. Lots more information on that but I am currently disinclined to write about it. Everyone already knows about it anyway :D. Just that, Arashi, thank you for being sort of epic. Though I am currently cheating on you and listening to KAT-TUN albums. XD

Ah well, to do some studying. If I can.

Maybe not.

Shallow much?

I'm sure everyone and their cats know the most recent world disaster. The earthquake, following tsunami, and the problems with nuclear reactors (and I've read an allusion to but not news itself of, a whirlpool?) in Japan right now. I am a sort of Japan-fan myself, what with one of my life goals is to be able to visit Japan at some point so I was shocked with the news.

Even though, I have to take this chance and admit that the first thing I thought was, "Are Arashi and my other Johnny biases safe?"

Yes, it does sound shallow. Horribly, horribly shallow. Thousands of people are dead and the first thing you thought about was your idols?

But when you think about it, and one person in a forum I follow pointed out more eloquently than I can ever hope to, is that, I actually know these people. Superficially yes, but it doesn't mean that I don't love them. And before you say anything, no, I'm not trying to justify anything. That's not what I'm trying to do. I'm just wondering why my knee-jerk reaction would be to think "Are Nino, Jun, Sho, Aiba and Oh-chan safe? What about Ueda? What about -insert other Johnny's artist here- ?" and so on before I think "Oh my god, loads of people are dead! That is so sad!"

So what I think is; it's because I have a vested interest in them? I love them and want them to be safe. Not because I want them to be alive so they can continue working and being a source of entertainment to me, no. It's because I genuinely wanted them to be safe. And even their families to be safe. Out of the millions of people in Japan, the first people I thought about were my biases. Then I thought about Rai's foster family. Then other lj-ers in Japan whom I don't know but have heard of through fandom.

What actually brought about this post was a post made by another arashi fan. I had been thinking about the shallowness before, but I had not thought to actually write about it until I read her post. I'm not particularly eloquent but, I'll try.

She said that after the initial shock of hearing Japan's disaster, she was slightly put-off by fandom's response of only thinking about the safety of their respective idols. Causing a flood of posts stating the confirmed safety of not only Johnnys idols, but other Jpop artists, Jrockers and even manga artists and seiyuus (voice actors). Even some reports of the state of some Johnny idols houses. And it was like people in fandom were holding these lives more than they would hold the lives of other normal people in Japan. It's true actually. She has a very valid point.

In the end, maybe it’s because we’re human? And this is a rather fatalistic view of life and human behavior but I think humans will always respond more to what interests them, what has an immediate relation towards them. I’m sure many would disagree but that’s what I think. People will always think about themselves first. Because these idols have a relation to me, because I want them to be safe, then I think about them first. I do not know the thousands other actually dead or suffering, I feel sorry for them, I wish them well, but that’s it. On the other hand, I want my idols to be safe. I want to know they are safe. I want official confirmation that they are alright.

But then again, what’s amazing is though, after the initial flood of posts about the safety of various idols and artists, there was another wave of posts about donations and auctions being held to raise money. What I think in a way, this shallowness and this kind of human interest has a good side as well. Because of this initial interest, people are actually trying to help. The response has been kind of amazing (from the view point of a virtual outsider anyway, but still). Because this interests me directly, I am helping.

Haha, a lot of people will disagree with me on this. I’m not up for a debate though, so yeah, don’t bother? This is my opinion and analysis on why I reacted the way I did. Why I’m sure hundreds of other fans reacted the way I did. I’m just putting this out there. I’m not saying this is a bad thing though. I just want to know why.

This argument (?) is everywhere. You can tell I’m not a particularly eloquent person. Much more when it comes through something like a screen. But if you get something from this, either an opinion of how weird I am or an argument of the values of celebrity (which may have ended this post three paragraphs ago) or a view on humanity, I’m glad.

And another thing, a few hours after the initial news, there was info from a fan that Fuji TV stated Arashi are safe. Followed by more information on the other groups I follow. I won't lie and say I wasn't immediately relieved because I was. I was instantly (and am still) very glad to know that they are safe.

But let’s not forget about the others as well. Let’s not forget about the millions devastated by this tragedy. Lend a helping hand. Do it in your own way. Who cares in what way.

Pray for Japan.

akunona

p/s: This is the first time I’ve ever posted about a world tragedy. Why? Because I love Japan, it has something to do directly with me, thus I am interested. I am not a very good person am I?

Also, I may come to regret posting this. LOL

Since I already posted this on my FB but hey, I like this picture :)

in which Aiba is distressed, Oh-chan is awesome, Sho fails, Nino's pissed, and Matsujun thinks he doesn't get paid enough for this.

-insert obligatory birthday post here-

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATSUMOTO JUN!!!!

Here's a birthday post for our fabulous diva, Jun-kun.

I say obligatory but I've spent the entire day thinking what is it that I want to write. Unfortunately, today it seems that I have the dumb so here's a normal birthday post.
Happy birthday MatsuJun. Stay healthy. Stay happy. Stay fabulous. Thank you for being the awesome Matsujun we all know and love. With all your doS-ness, your dorkness, and your epic fan service. Good luck on Natsuniji. Even though I can't stomach it, doesn't mean I'm not cheering you on. Have a happy and wonderful time.

Have a fail drawing of matsujun during the Msute To Be Free performance.

Whilst I wasn't exactly Jun-Baited, he was the first member I could easily identify when I was still new to Arashi (strong face jokes here). His dedication and drive to his work are things that I greatly look up to. Not to mention that we're both August babies (what? I'm sure that all Arashi fans born in August feel the same way :D). Jun-kun, you'll always have a special place in my heart.

so, anyway, Happy Birthday.

sugi e sugi e to

Just some lyrics to the song I'm currently listening too.
It's Arashi's "Movin' On" if you were interested. Anyway.

Today I woke up amazingly late. After I had went back to sleep again of course. But really, that doesn't count. So, I don't really like to wake up so late. It makes me feel guilty somehow. Haha

Weird person I am.

Tomorrow we are going to go to Kota Tua. I should probably charge my cellphone. It's fairly important. And we'll probably be taking pictures. So, wait a minute...

alright, that's done

Anyway. Tomorrow we're gonna set out early. And we have to wake up early to make lunch because we're gonna have a picnic of some sort as well. Maybe I'll bring some crisps as well. We'll see.

I'm not really enthused as you can see. Most probably because I'm just going with the flow. Since everyone decided to go, I'm just going along. It's not like I'm really doing anything at home right now. So, why not?

Don't really expect a lot of input on the trip though. I might not write about it until maybe three weeks after. Haha.

One thing I've been thinking about recently. The Arashi new album.

Some people are moaning and groaning at the use of auto-tuning in the album.

I personally have no problems with it though. Mostly because to me, I want to listen to a good song. I don't care how you make it, how you sing it, or even sometimes, what you're singing about. I just want a good song. If the auto-tuning makes the song better, then I have no qualms with it. To me, it's still a good song.

If I want to listen to real singing, I'll listen to other songs. If I want to do some head banging, I'll listen to some other songs.

That kind of thing.

Maybe I have no real principle on what I'm listening to, but to really describe it, I just want to listen to a good song.

It's like, I can't really stand hip hop, but still I listen to some songs by Eminem because he makes some good songs.

It just comes down to personal preference anyway, cry moar kinda thing.

I love the new album. And surprisingly, my favourite member solo is Matsujun's. Nino's is good but kinda, you know. Just good. The meaning behind the song is sweet though. Sho-chan's is listenable, but not really something I'd put on repeat. Aiba's is aiba-ppoi and I laugh everytime he sings -discotique, discotique- because really???? . Oh-chan's solo is something he's done. Kinda like 'Song for me' and 'Take me far away'. It's good. Oh-chan's vocals are awesome. But it's too done.

All in all, I really like this album. :) Good job, Arashi.

Good luck in your concerts this year!!!

Violence

shall occur rather soon.

There are TOO MANY ANTS. ARGH!!!!

Not the big ones, but the small, black ones that swarm and bite you.

I swear if another bites me again, I'm going to go on a rampage. With Baygon. Don't say I didn't warn you.

On another note, oral medicine sucks. I have another word for it, but I am trying to keep the blog clean. Hahah (see that happening soon -_-)

Costumes for Gantz movie have been released today.

omg....OMG....
OMG!

I seem to remember saying that one of the reasons want to watch the movie was to see Nino in a tight suit (skin tight suit), kicking alien ass. And, seeing the teasers, they be delivering. *nosebleeds*

Please 2011, come soon. And please, some random cineplex near where I live, please get the distribution rights.

Right, of to pretend I'm actually studying something!

A fun weekend

i went to KL for the weekend and stayed a night at my sister's place.

It was very fun and i don't think that I have ever walked that much in a day. My legs, they cry with despair.

We went to KLCC where the main point was Kinokuniya and then to Time's Square where my sis did some shopping.

Kinokuniya was awesome. Mostly because I managed to buy the photobook that I wanted :D
I have loved the Pikanchi photobook since I sawthe scans and would have liked a copy for myself. I'm glad to say now, I do. :D

It's also good reading practice. Even though I can't read most kanji but at least I'm able to recognize and read the Hiragana and Katakana. Baby steps people! baby steps!!!!!

After KLCC we went to TS and shopped clothes. Well, yin did. I mostly browsed. But the dress she bought was lovely ;D

Anyway, thanks yin, for keeping me company. I know. I need the exercise. But honestly? My legs... they disagree with you.

OH! And an update about the 5x10 tour DVD: PAID AND ORDERED!!!!

Oh joy! now to wait for April. .

My wallet, it is dead

Because Arashi's 5x10 concert DVD is finally up for pre-order. The release date is set for April 7th. I am in the process of contacting a person and arranging a transaction. May all goes well.

I have waited for this CD since August last year. I shall have it!!!!!!! Wargh!!!!!

So, in other non-arashi related news, I am currently home for semester holidays! Have been for like, 1 week plus?

I have been doing nothing but expanding. Myself.

I really should go out and do something. *sigh*

Oh and I got a haircut. It's short. And short. And...short?
I wished she hadn't cut my bangs so short. I like my bangs longer. But I shall live. Hair grows.

This keyboard is seriously testing the limits of my patience. And strength. It's so..... hard? That's the only word I can think of to describe it. I wish my laptop is ok again. ABANG!!! COME HOME!!!!

Alright, nothing much to say. I hope the DVD transaction goes off okay. I really want this. >_<

Aiba-chan...

Happy Belated Birthday Aiba-chan

A day late, but, Merry Christmas as well. Though, I read somewhere that Japan doesn't really observe christmas as a holiday. It being more of a couple's celebration than anything else. And they eat KFC for some reason.

So anyway, dear Aiba-chan. I remember you being the first Arashi member for whom I wrote a birthday wish for in my blog. Though at that time, it was the blog in friendster. Surprising how fast a year has gone past...

Anyway, Happy birthday Aiba. Stay as miraculous as you are. Know that, all around the world, fans are wishing you the best in as many ways possible. Be well, be happy and take care. :)

I am, in fact, still able to type

just really, really lazy to. And really busy to bother to.

But since I feel like it's been a long time, I'm updating.
Anyway, last entry's emo is so emo. But yeah.
I'm the type of person who thinks that the only thing I think I have is my academics. It's the only thing I'm good at (though I'm not that good at it either, as evidenced in the last entry). So, it means a lot to me. I suppose. Allow us our vices, eh?
Concerning that, the remedial paper for the exam is over and done with. I don't think I failed again, but I didn't think I'd fail in the first place either. Though for this block's (21st blok) Gizi, yeah, that one, I probably did fail. Quite spectacularly in fact.

Enough of exams woe yeah? I could go on forever.

I just came back from having Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki at Central Park with Anum and A'an. We have nihon fever. It was inevitable just as the okonomiyaki and takoyaki were delicious. Not exactly like I'd imagined them to be, but, yummy enough. Snacking stuff. I'm gonna try mochi next. :P

Nothing really all that new in my life. I study. I sleep. I eat. And the cycle continues. I'm thinking of taking karate back up, but it seems impossible right now. Maybe I'll just keep practicing the few kata-s I know. If I can recall them of course.

OH! last week (?) probably, myself, Anum, A'an, Mai, Rai and Ejat went to Grand Indonesia. The mission: to buy mags featuring Arashi at Kinokuniya. I wistfully remember a time when I thought I would never get in this deep. Ah, naivety.

Anyway, I can say that we all got what we wanted. And I can't believe I bought it, but I did.
Arashi on Potato mag November issue. It came with THREE posters. THREE. I am on cloud TEN because nine isn't enough. I haven't taken them out yet because I haven't a pen knife. Though it hurts me that the posters are back and front. Meaning if I put up the Nino poster, Oh-chan will be facing the wall. Though, saying this, I'm still putting up the Nino poster. Because I am biased. My bias is the bias of love.

Potato November issue. See the adorable?
And of absolutely no relation, this was the sky outside this morning, when I was coming back from class.
Somehow, it made my smile.

Though it's already evening now and it's just finished raining. ;)
