I feel very accomplished now. Pretty good for a non-native speaker. At least according to them. But still, when I saw some of the words I thought "My god, how are these actual words?" *horrorface*

You can try the test out here.

It's pretty fun.

In other news, I have my SPA interview booked for the 27th of February and I have yet to study for beans. Yay me! Also, yay holiday mindset.

In all honesty, I was pretty scared to take the test

Of life, love, marriage and epic run on sentences which make less sense than I intended them to

So today, I am sitting here, on the floor of the living room in my childhood home, with my laptop on my knees, listening to Beethoven’s Allegreto Symphony no.7 in A major, OP.92 which I only know of because I searched the King’s Speech OST (it’s the music playing when his Majesty gives that speech through the radio at the end of the movie, wait, that might be spoiler-ish? Ah well.) Contemplating love.
Didn’t see that curveball coming didja?

Not really.

So last year, I made a post on Valentine’s day  (which you can read here, if you so ever wish) and I think that I came across as being rather cynical. I can’t help it, I am cynical. My default setting is sarcasm. Which sometimes people don’t get and they think I’m just being mean, though maybe they’re not that far of the mark. But would it really surprise you, if I said, really, truthfully, I do have a romantic side.

Gasp and call the Night Watch. Or something (incidentally, I do have all the Night Watch books, I just have never read them. Maybe One Day).

It’s not really news if I said I have not, ever, been in a relationship. I do moan and groan and complain about it a lot and in several past posts. It’s nothing new. But what if I said, that forever, I have wished for a love story so sweet, it will give me eternal cavities.

In all clichéd stories of life and love, my parents have known each other since form 1 in secondary school. And I have wanted something as awesome as that. Though, as you can probably deduce, that boat has sailed, been scuttled, and sunk into the depths of the Forever Alone ocean of unrequited love tears. But dramatics and run on sentences aside, yes, I do want to be loved. I do want an epic love story.
Surprise. I am, apparently, a little girl at heart.

But then, I think, what is love? Why do people equate it with a heart, which, really doesn’t even really look like a heart? Where do feelings come from? Why do people always say, follow your heart, when last I knew the heart, which is made out of special heart muscles, with special nerves, and special structures like fibers, chords, and flaps, that all, somehow, work together in synchronicity to make sure that we get the required amount of blood flowing through our vascular system so that we don’t get tired while at rest (stage 4 cardiac failure according to NYHA), does not, in any way, have any cognitive abilities. Making it unable to make an informed decision. Unable, to even make a decision. And yet.

I have a thing for run on sentences. It’s the common bane of all my English teachers. They obviously have not succeeded in culling my penchant for writing long, wordy nonsense. I have only deteriorated after my last English teacher in Matriculation.

But back to love. So? What is love. The scientist would say a mish-mash of various hormones induced by specific conditions to make your pupils dilate, your heart palpitate and a general feeling of warmness, maybe. Also, what happens when you get into a fight or flight situation, except different hormones. I dunno. I’m digressing.

I don’t know why, but somehow, I have worked into cultivating a very hard exterior in which, I am perceived as being, not romantic. I don’t read romance novels, I think watching romantic movies is boring, and while my friends are all, this is so sweet, that man is so romantic, I tell them that I have barfed a little in my mouth while observing their exploits.
Once a bunch of friends and I went book shopping. And among the books that ended up being purchased by my friends was a book, written in a vaguely religious manner, by a religiously educated person, on love. And marriage. And what we should do in this beautiful, wonderful, sparkly institution known as marriage. And I do not understand why she bought this particular book.  So, in the ever ongoing quest to obtain more knowledge, I asked her, why.

She said that when you come to a certain age, you’ll start thinking about these things. About growing up. I replied, but I’m the same age as you. We’re even born in the same month. Maybe you’re just a late bloomer, she said. Have you got a boyfriend Nona? She asked me. I said, no, unfortunately not. A look of comprehension dawned on her face and she said, that’s why. You don’t have a boyfriend Nona, so you don’t know how it feels. You haven’t felt the feeling of being in love and being loved. You wouldn’t understand. I think the conversation then went into tangents of how after I have fallen in love, I would probably change. I don’t know what I’ll be, but apparently, one of them would be a person who voluntarily reads self-help/motivation books on love and marriage and the lovely, beautiful and sparkly institution that is marriage.

And I abhor that answer so much so, because it makes me less human than her. And it is just really me, but it also implies that after having fallen in love, I may turn into a sycophantic human being who breaths and lives love and sentiment. Love pushes through my veins, kinda shindig.  And I hate that.
I may have never had a relationship but that does not mean that I have never been in love. And yet, I still don’t see the draw of reading the self-help, sappy long winded books of love, happiness and marriage genre.
The easy and oft used argument is of course, to each his own. And the more complex argument might include debates on child development, Sigmund Freud vs Erik Ericsson’s modules, nature vs nurture and maybe a long winded and completely illogical argument on why raspberry ripple will always top vanilla on the most awesome flavor for ice-cream in existence. But whichever way you say it, I think that in the end, love is so much more, marriage is so much more, and reading it from a cookie cutter, sugar glazed book is just so dumb.

It’s not like I don’t want to fall in love. Not that I don’t want to get married. Not that I don’t want to have a family of my own. It’s just that I think reading from those books, gives you very high ideals on how everything should be perfect. When in reality, it’s really not that clear cut. Sure you have ideals and motivations and some of them planted in you when you read so and so book or something but in the end, life is never what the books say. I mean, even all the things that have been written in medical texts have been researched and really the most general and common presentation of some such situation or disease, will almost never present the same. And that’s like, damn.

So, in essence, I think that reading those books is dumb and I’m just gonna wing it.

In the end, what made me contemplate love and all the convoluted reasons behind it, and marriage, and so many things that I cannot for the life of me articulate into a comprehensible sentence, is that today, is my parent’s wedding anniversary. And we know how that went off to.

I told my mother this morning, Happy-however-happy-you-want-it-to-be Anniversary. She asked me how to be happy. I told her to have a cookie.

Have fun contemplating life, love and the (apparently, to some books and people) lovely, beautiful and sparkly institution that is marriage.

Of conviction (or the lack there of)

I just realized that I have been operating under the idea that today was Wednesday. Apparently not. Ah the wonders of holiday in which I do not have to even pay enough attention to remember what the hell day it is. Except for maybe remembering Monday. Because every Monday at 10 pm National Geographic airs Inside War. And yeah. Reasons enough. Even if I have to fight my dad because he wants to watch NCIS on Fox. Oh yeah. Life now has degenerated to channel priorities.

Not that I regret any of it, of course. After years of blood, sweat and tears (and more to come) I feel like I deserve a couple month's worth of gluttony and sloth. Incidentally, one month anniversary of coming home.

Hmm, any news? Not really.
I changed my background as you can obviously see. Not really the best, but it's simple enough to not cause a murder to any innocent irises and the like.

Ah well. Till another day. Maybe.

there is no reason to this post

and then, it died

"We got the halls boss!"

Hiya. I ain't dead yet. Though coming pretty close.

Lots of things happening. Babies being delivered and all that crap. You know. I'm gonna make this really short because my keyboard's wonky after I had it repaired the other day. Typing long paragraphs need more patience than I can spare right now. I'll have to get it repaired again soon. Right now, if I type, some other letter appears if I press certain ones. I am constantly editing this shit. Here's an example of an unedited sentence:

"hi my name ils nowna and i slike two draow becaulse i am bowred als aslls fuck.x"

guess which letters. The paranoid in me thinks its a ploy by making something else in my laptop not work, they're hoping to make more money of me. Sucks to them because I'm poor right now. Poor enough to put off repairs. A sad day.

So anyway, obstetrics is not fun business and I find myself actively loathing this shit. Like a slow burning hate kinda thing. Sometimes I feel fine. But then, there are days I look at the hospital and consider running in the opposite direction. Far, far away.

The picture above was drawn in a fit of creativity born from browsing peoples' deviant art accounts. And procrastination. Always procrastination. Somehow, I really want to do something like this. All the neon colors that I would never wear. I love Death Berry's colors and Flutter Shark's name. Wonder if I'll have the guts one day.

Back to the picture, it was drawn in mspaint directly on the base picture. To great hand cramps. I figure I'm going about it the hard way? But I like it. It's how I figured it out, so yeah. The original is a picture of me in scrubs standing in the OT at one of the various hospitals I've been posted. I drew on it, added that alien cat thingy to great amusement and voila, around three hours wasted. Ah well. You win some, you lose some. I didn't even realize so much time passed. Haha. If only I could emulate that same focus to studying :)

Anyway, that's all for today folks. I am this close to hitting my keyboard with a stick, so to avoid furthur property damage, I bid you Adieu.

There was once a sane person

There was also once a reason why I opened this window. I can't remember it now though. This window has been open for like an hour and a half, blinking cursor inviting words to be written. Memories recorded. But then I got lazy and watched cat videos. Or not really. Because I watched dance videos. Because I can't dance worth shit. And I also miss my kitties back home.

I'm supposed to be getting ready for the late on call shift. Supposed of course is being the key word here. I am currently sitting in front of my laptop, arms resting on a pile of books that I'm currently looking through so I can make a case analysis, wearing my orange sleeveless and maroon red three quarter shorts. In short, I look like a bum. A bum with wet hair that's tickling my back. Where the hell is my hair-jaw-clippy thingy? I have no idea what it's called.

Anyway, right now posting in Depok at RS Bhakti Yudha for Neurology. Neurology is pretty decent. I like the stuff. Though rather tiring work day here, since we have to be present for morning and evening clinics. And you know how they won't let you sit down and anything right? So yeay for wearing out the soles of shoes. I'm due in, in half an hour. I REALLY should be getting ready. Anybody carry a crow bar so I can pry my ass off this chair?

ARGHHHH!! yeay for latent laziness. Insidious onset, quick progression, fatal outcome. I'm really, really lazy. And random. And I hate everything right now. And I'm left alone in Depok right now because my friends had last night's shift and this morning, both of them went of back to Jakarta leaving me alone. Because I can't go back because I have the damn afternoon-night shift. Well fuck you too.

So! Enough randomness and get that mug of coffee going you dumb girl. You'll be needing it.

Bleagh

there really isn't much meaning to this

It's almost valen - *BOOM*

Pagan holiday? A remembrance for that executed father who married couples illegally? Some thing to do with the criminal underworld? Whatever your argument, this :

is not a heart.

This, however:

is (a rough drawing of) a heart.

And then, we have the malay word "hati". Which means, heart. But also, oddly, translates into this:

which, if you can't tell, is a liver.

But, enough of semantics. As interesting as they may sound.

Any plans for "lover's day"? Or, in my case, "Single's Awareness Day"?
Hmm. Probably not, since according to my calander, it would be a Tuesday. And I go to work on Tuesdays. So does everyone else. But hey chocolate's on sale.

Dermatology and Venereal diseases posting started last Monday. Next week would be the oh so awesome second week, in which we pretty much do nothing anyway. Maybe a paper needs to be written at some point. I have no idea of the plans. I did score on the pretest. But that generally just puts pressure on me to score during the post test.  And damn it, I don't need pressure. I however, do need a holiday.

In recent beings, nothing much. Just generally being. Finished one book out of the three I bought last weekend. It was nice. Now reading a second book, which is also nice. But I'm only halfway through. And I have a horrible itch to draw something but I don't want to just draw. I want to draw something nice. Something pretty.
So, yeah. Have at it. I'mma gonna go and finish reading my book.

all the drawings were done by me in MSpaint. Have at it, no terms and conditions apply, though I  do wonder what would you be doing with a picture of a liver.

The Epilogue of Dr. Skelling Tone : Part the Thousandth

The gentleman skeleton tipped his hat politely.

"Fine weather we seem to be having, do you not think so?" asked the gentleman skeleton, tipping his hat politely.

"Rather cold I should think," the young girl replied.

"Ah, but I find you to be rather under dressed in your night things. Pray tell, what are you doing out this lovely evening?"

The young girl looked up quizzically into the gentleman skeleton's empty eye sockets.

"But you have not yet introduced yourself. I would hardly tell a stranger as to what I am doing," she said.

"Ah, my apologies young girl. It appears my manners have left me as have my skin and musculature. Please, let me introduce myself; I am Dr. Skelling Tone. Pleased it is to meet your acquaintance," Dr. Skelling Tone bowed in a grand gesture.

The young girl could here his spine creak and she curtsied in reply.

"My name is Miss Lay Dei, this is Mr. Raggard Dei and we happen to be lost."

"But that is such a predicament Miss Lay Dei!" Dr. Skelling Tone exclaimed, his bones shuddering in empathy.

"It is rather troublesome, Dr. Skelling Tone, but it seems that we have taken a wrong turn after ToyLett Town going into Hallway Down, Mr. Raggard Dei here being reluctant to ask for directions." Miss Lay Dei explained, glaring slightly from the corner of her eyes at Mr. Raggard Dei who hung limply in her hand. He looked rather sorry.

"Well, have no fear, my dear, dear Miss Lay Dei. For I am a doctor! And I will give you directions! Where, pray tell, is it that you are heading towards?" Dr. Skelling Tone threw out his arms in another grand gesture.

Miss Lay Dei stared at where Dr. Skelling Tones bony feet did not touch the ground, her small features set into a frown.

"We were heading for the RedBoom before we lost our way."

"Oh, but the RedBoom!" Dr Skelling Tone exclaimed.

"Can you help us, Dr. Skelling Tone?"

"Why, I do believe I can, Miss Lay Dei! You are now in the Clow Zet and the RedBoom is not that far away. All you have to do is take four, three steps left till you get back to where you started, look up and you will have found yourselves before the RedBoom gates," Dr. Skelling Tone grinned, empty eye sockets dark with glee.

"Oh thank you, Dr. Skelling Tone. You have been of such help. Mr. Raggard Dei and I are very grateful," Miss Lay Dei exclaimed. Mr. Raggard Dei bounced hand in hand with Miss Lay Dei with joy.

"It is a pleasure to be of service Miss Lay Dei." Dr. Skelling Tone bowed again, vertebrae clacking.

Miss Lay Dei curtsied in reply.

"Before I take my leave for the RedBoom, may I ask you one question Dr Skelling Tone? Disregarding this one of course." inquired Miss Lay Dei as she straightened from her curtsy.

"You may, my dear Miss Lay Dei."

"You are a doctor are you not, Dr. Skelling Tone? But what is that a doctor are you of?"

Dr. Skelling Tone laughed, a whispery timbre, like wind through bones.

"A simple doctor Miss Lay Dei. I am but Dr. Skelling Tone of the Clow Zet and it was a pleasure to meet you."

Miss Lay Dei smiled, Mr. Raggard Dei bounced, and Dr. Skelling Tone grinned his skull grin.

"The pleasure is all mine."

and he laughed, a whispery timbre, like wind through bones

and the dish ran away with the spoon

So I figured I should write about my experience celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri alone in Jogja. Alone as in there wasn't anyone I know here who actually celebrated Hari Raya with me. Not alone literally.

But the experience was so confusing, sad and lonely, that I'm not going to. Just because. I'll let you imagine it yourself how celebrating raya on your own is like. Yes, I did have friends (at least acquaintances) who went out of their way to keep me company of which I am extremely grateful. But you know, it's just different. You're the only one. No matter who else was with you. Whatever anyway. This crap would just be depressing.

Speaking of depression, I am rather worried because I still haven't found a case for our course work. Way to make a non sequitur Nona. This is however a very valid worry because the doctor in charge is a monster with many rings. No really. She has like 16 on both hands and the first thing I thought when I saw them was that, If she ever hit her kid in the head, they'd suffer from a mild concussion. Anyway, here's to making some headway on that tomorrow.

I actually had a reason to write tonight. Most of it being caused by fluctuating hormones making me feel like shit, really really sad shit but I don't think I can write any of that freely. But I can't talk about this shit freely either. Which leaves me in a conundrum of piling everything in again. Which is never good because when everything blows up, the resulting mess hurts more.

Ah well. And on that note of hormones not making any sense no matter how many sense their actual cycle makes, I leave you with .... basically nothing

thanks for reading. If you made it this far

there is such a thing as too much free time

Short semester classes have started for me yesterday. On the first day that the short semester started. While my next class is on the ninth of March which is not for another two weeks or so. Oh my god.

I am bored.

It's just that the allotted time does not seem proportional to a credit hours this subject has!!
It's a relatively small subject and I'm stuck for all three weeks of the short semester. And I can't go home in between classes because somehow, this does not sit well with me. I mean, I still have classes! I can't skip out! Not that I'm actually skipping out or anything.

Can you assassinate your consciousness? Because that would make things so much more easier.

All my house mates are moving forward. They're already doing their PADAS. Don't get me wrong or anything, I'm not in any way angry or jealous or anything. I am being entirely truthful when I say that I'm actually kind off grateful for this short break. Because I need it. Even if I am bored.

On the other hand this is merely delaying the inevitable, but yeah, a breather is a breather. And not something to turn your nose up against.

I haven't really been doing anything.

I studied for oral medicine a few nights ago, before class. Managed to answer most of the questions but couldn't exactly follow in the end because I hadn't finished reading up. I should probably continue doing that. Hmmmmm....

I actually have somethings I wanted to write about but you know how it is. Every time you manage to open up the window and sit down to type is the time everything you want to talk about flies away.

Ah well.

this is your friendly neighbourhood workaholic speaking

I am still in a very relaxed mood.
Still very lazy to start my work again. So I'm taking the day off.
I feel that I deserve at least a day.
I'll start my report tomorrow. InsyaAllah. It's due Friday anyway, so, I need to get it done by Wednesday at the latest. OMG

Anyway, I was reading a manga just now. In the manga, the main character was reading a manga. One called "Sepatte Takuro" shortened to "SepaTaku". They then started talking about how awesome that manga was. How their favorite attack was named "The Scissors Kick" and how it was so creative of the manga-ka to think up a game that combined volley ball and football (soccer).

Then in the note accompanying the manga, the translator started saying that this "Sepatte Takuro" seemed like a made up name, for a made up sport, as far as he/she knew.

I burst a gut laughing.

They were talking about Sepak Takraw.

The translator, proceeded to correct the mistake in the next chapter, but they still owe me a new gut from laughing.

I know, I know, nerd alert. ;9

Made me wonder about the Sepak Takraw scene in Japan. And it seems that the game itself is still known as "Sepak Takraw". Which is kinda amazing, really.

I bought a crank up music box yesterday. Though, not really a box is it? It plays "Here comes the sun" which is kinda awesome. They had a bunch of Beatle songs. I was mulling between "Hey Jude" and "Here comes the sun".

Nothing much new in life. I am thinking up some stuff, but that shall remain a secret.

Either way, I hope it goes well.

drawing

which is something that I really want to do right now. If i have any idea what it is that I want to draw.

It's really therapeutic. You should try it sometimes. Except when you get the proportions wrong.
I didn't have any education in art. It's mostly trial and error. Giving this and that a go. That's why my shading sucks so terribly. And my proportions are almost always off.
The last art class I remember having was in 5th grade at primary school. Huh. That's more than ten years ago. Whohooo for growing up.

Anyway, Aidilfitri celebrations are next week. Tomorrow everyone's going to be home. InsyaAllah.

Though, actually, to be honest, I'm not really looking forward to this raya. :)

Because tomorrow will be sunny

This, my friends, is the result of studying Psychiatry for three hours straight....

This means nothing. Except maybe allusions to a few psychiatry related problems I have been reading prior to this. Angst because apparently I cannot write anything fun. Besides, this stuff is never fun...
First original piece I've written in ages. This just further reminds me that I suck.

Enjoy. If you can tell me what the disorder I allude to is, all the better.

She smiled at him from the doorway, a hand stretched towards him. Her pink lips moved as she said something and her entire face lit as she laughed. He could see his own hand reaching towards her. Did he laugh too, he wonders.

Every footstep was accompanied by a dull crunch as he walked on, uncaring in the debris that littered the floor. He imagines that he could feel the glass cut through the soles of his shoes, tearing at the skin of his feet. He wonders why he feels no pain.

The walls were cast an odd flickering orange as he ran down the hall. He knew something was wrong. Knew it in his bones. In his labored breaths that burned his lungs. He could feel hands grab at him, pulling him back. A crack, a rush of flame and smoke and his vision starts to blur around the edges. He hears a loud cry. Almost animal in its ferocity and despair. He wonders why his throat hurts.

“We should go back,” a voice wakes him from his reverie.

He looks up from the ruined cupboard he had been unconsciously inspecting. The glass doors had shattered when it fell. He turned and the glass crunched under
foot.

“Who lived here?” he asked.

The man, his friend, smiled.

“A happy couple.”

“I hope they’re okay. It looks like this place was burned pretty bad.”

“I’m sure everything’s fine”

The door was pulled shut behind him. He stretched lazily, easing a tension he hadn’t known had built in his neck and back. His friend chuckled in amusement as he popped his back.

“Let’s go have ice-cream,” he said.

“Why ice-cream?” his friend asked as he led the way back to their car.

“Just felt like it. Chocolate chip cookies and almonds sounds good. What?”

His friend smiled sadly.

“Ice cream it is.”

Weekend

I was bored of staying at home. So I went to TA this afternoon. My logical reasoning is astounding, is it not?

Didn't really had anything planned to do. The only thing I wanted to do was to find Paramore's new album.

No luck there though. The shop assistant said it'll probably arrive sometime next week? So I'll probably bother looking again next weekend. If I'm not busy.

I ended up with some other stuff though. Which inevitably happens.

A new pair of earphones. Which are blue. I wanted yellow. But they only had blue, green and pink. Blue being cute enough, blue it was. though now i see it clashes with my mp3... hurmm... And Zee Avi's album.

Errr... kinda not my usual style... but her voice is really cute.

The verdict after listening to it some: Just, not my type? But I do like 'First one to die' from the album.

Watched a movie as well. Inglorious Basterds. Yes, I am aware it has been out for ages but it's just now playing over here. So why not? I debated between that one and that "Sumthingorother-With a Chance of Meatballs" movie.

But Brad Pitt wins, hands down.

One of the best parts of watching a movie by yourself is that you don't have to worry about whether they'll have enough seats for your friends so you can sit together. So yeah, I got decent seats (if I hadn't I wouldn't have bothered watching), and watched the movie.

I pretty much liked it though at the beginning I didn't really get where it was all going. Fav scene; at the theater. Really, really cool. And the soundtrack was awesome too.

Bought a new eraser after mine was mutilated a few months back, a new comic and some toothpaste. That's pretty much it.

Oh, and at the CD store, I was actually, quite seriously debating whether I should or not buy a KAT-TUN concert DVD. KAT-TUN's Queen concert DVD. It said in 2008? So it must be recent but since I'm not in The KAT-TUN fandom, I don't know. It costs Rp100,000. Which is, I'd like to think, relatively cheap (because I bought that Arashi 5x5 cd at the same store for Rp90,000). But then, I didn't buy it. Mainly because it wasn't Arashi and I don't need another fandom.

I have some homework to do and it's 95% done? Only need some people to submit somethings to me and draw curvy lines on graph paper. They said you can just do a rough sketch in words but suddenly, my prefectionist A-type self decided to rear up its head and make a scene. So I'll draw it out tomorrow.

On another tangent, if you don't get this, it's fine, but, I'm Sorry.

Till next time. I'm really tired.

The "!!!! Moments" or "WTF moments" or really, "the moments you just don't know what's happening anymore..."

I'm sure you have them.

The moments in life when you just can't help but think "WTF?!!" or generally, just go "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" if you're not a swearing person. The moments in life when the only coherent thought in your head is, "What?".

So , since I'm bored and I have nothing to do (though I should probably do the dishes), Here I share some WTF moments that I have experienced so far...

1. The cat that spewed

This happened not too long ago actually. I was walking to college one morning, just like normal, when a cat caught my eye. It was a rather mangy looking cat, an alley cat, not that much different from any other cat, but what caught my eye was that it was heaving. You know, the way you do when you're about to spew.

I was just feeling sorry for the cat, wondering what had happened to it or was it just about to spew a hairball or something when suddenly, as I was coming about level with it, it spewed green gunk. More like projectile vomited green liquid. Bubbly, green liquid.

And yes, I went "WTF???"

When I came back to look at it after classes, to see if it was OK, it was already gone.

2. Age is proportional to..?

During a wedding kenduri, I was sitting alone at the dining table, my other family members having gone off somewhere I can't remember when a lady sitting nearby, striked up a conversation. We made small talk about nothing in particular when she asked me this question;

"So, adik how was your UPSR exams? Were they OK?"

I was gobsmacked and yeah...UPSR???? HUH????

Why? Because I was 17. I had just finished taking SPM! And here she was asking me about an exam that you take when you were 12. An exam I took, 5 years prior.

So, I answered, politely enough, "It was fine but this year I' m taking SPM.-smiles-"

I was 17 and she thought I was 12... *sigh* This should teach me to eat my veggies (I still don't eat them, btw)

3. Really, age is proportional too ... ???

Another WTF moment concerning age. During raya season some years back, a cousin came to visit and being nice and sociable and all, I went to shake his hand, and you know, do all the host-y things.

Then, my dad asked me, "Where's your mum?"

"Somewhere outside, I think," I replied when suddenly,

"EH?!" my cousin interupted a look of surprise and confusion on his face. "But I thought this was Mak Jema!" he said, pointing at me.

"EH?! WTF" goes my brain.

on another note, I suppose I take after my mum too much.

4. Through the darkness... comes squishiness

The light in my room is stupid and the electrical wiring in my house is old, so sometimes the light just suddenly would not turn on. So, it was one of those moments.

I was groping around in the dark, looking for something probably when suddenly I stepped on something squishy and bloated like. Like stepping on a water balloon except it didn't burst. And suddenly, an enormously loud croak came from under my foot.

I jumped, screamed and ran out of the room.

It was a frog. In my room. And I stepped on it. WTF?

***

Yeah... so there they are. Some "! moments" in my life. I'm sure I have some more but, I can't remember them right now. Maybe I'll do a sequel some time. Hahah...

Though, I seem to remember that most of them have something to do with mistaken age.

Anyways, anyone want to share some of their moments?

I'm bored. Was this even a little bit interesting? Oh well.

What?

Taking a short break from doing research for my next PBL paper and went blog-hopping. I'm mousehappy right now people.

So, stumbled on this blog and did this quiz....

It's a Johnny's compatibility quiz that apparently thinks, height, weight and blood type has something to do with how compatible you'll be with someone.

Why did I get Ikuta Toma?

Not that I don't like him, that is. (who does not like Nakatsu, really. That epitome of kawaii-ness???)

Anyone want to trade for Nino???

Anyway, I can't read japanese. Just follow the instructions the nice blogger placed in her blog. If you can't read the name of the person you got either, then just do what I did and copy the name, paste it in your search engine and look through the results. Wikipedia is kinda sorta useful, no? Though for PBL related researches, its best to look at other places or at least find another source supporting what it says.

Right, back to poring over my Nelson's. (that book can double for a support beam in some building, I swear)...

Ma...ma...Max?

So yeah, I was browsing around Mangafox the other day when this title caught my eye:

"Maximum Ride."

Could it be? It couldn't be... *click*... OMG, it really is!!!!

A Maximum Ride comic! Artist: Lee Narae.

Whossat? Your guess is as good as mine. Either way, big Max fan that I am, I went and read it, of course.

....

..........

........................................................ (-_-;;)

Er..... why does Fang look like Kanda Yuu from D-Gray Man?

In fact, if suddenly a big, golden golem with a cross on its head suddenly appeared in the frame, I'd have been sure that I was reading D-Gray Man.

And why do the Erasers remind me so much of that green dude in Street Fighter? You know the one that can make lightning.... ah, Blanka. Him. (the wonders of google, people)

They don't look jack like wolves/super models.

I'm...disappointed.

The art was nice and all. Just...... it was sorta disappointing. Esp the Fang=Kanda Yuu thing.

Errh..... disappointing.

On another note, had Pharmacology exams today!!! Yeay!!!!!!!!!!

I.... flopped. specatacularly,

Kulit Kelamin results came out. Passed with a B. I'm glad. ;)

That makes all the past blocks results. I....did ok.

Now I have to study for this block. Digestive system 2.

Exams.... examsss....exammmssssss.....

oh, btw, can read Max Ride manga here:

that, my friends, is Kanda Yuu. Now tell me Fang doesn't look like him.

p/s: those who haven't read Max Ride. You don't know what you're missing. GO READ IT!!

One night...

It began like any other night.

I was in my room, studying, with regular intervals of facebook-ing to play "word challenge". My personal method of relaxing when I couldn't read anymore. It was already past eleven p.m. and the night was silent, even the ever present 'dorongan' did not pass by our house. Suddenly, I heard a soft voice calling out my name...

"Nona...." it said.

At first I thought I might have misheard, so I took out my earphones and listened intently.

Again,

"Nonaaa...." a woman's voice called.

Sighing, I got up from my comfortable place on the floor and unlocked the door.

"Yes Fiqi, what is it?" I asked as I stepped out of my room.

Fiqi, my house mate was standing in the doorway of her room. She had a worried look on her face and she was rubbing her arms up and down in a nervous gesture.

Silently, she beckoned me towards her room...and pointed at a piece of crumpled paper on the floor.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"What do you think is this?"

She had moved towards the paper and had picked it up gingerly with her finger tips. Slowly, she unwrapped the paper to reveal a big fat maggot.

Disgust welled deep in my stomach as I watched the maggot move across the paper. Its body shortening and lengthening with each movement. Unconciously, I took a step back.

"Ew. Where the heck did that come from?"

Fiqi glanced at the maggot as it moved sinously across the paper. Fiercely, she scrunched the paper in her hands before throwing it into her trash bin.

She quickly filled me in on what had happened.

She had been studying microbiology in preparation for a quiz that we would be having the next day when suddenly, something fell on her paper. It was round-like and slightly greyish in colour and at first she thought that it was nothing but suddenly, it moved. To her surprise, it was a maggot. She ignored it, thinking it was nothing and merely moved to another spot when suddenly, she saw something fall out of the corner of her eyes.

Another maggot.

By the third maggot, she had lost her nerve and called me.

I suppressed a shudder, still eyeing the crumpled piece of paper. To my surprise, something came crawling out from underneath it.

"Dude, it's still alive!" I thought.

"Where did you think it came from? What is it?" she asked, her voice tinted with worry and disgust.

I followed her gaze to her ceiling. I didn't see any obvious cracks and really, I had no idea what the maggot was and where the heck it could have come from.

Together we tried to figure out where had the maggots fallen from. As we were discussing the possibilities, suddenly Fiqi grabbed my arm.

"Do you smell something?" she asked.

I obligingly sniffed the air.

"No. Nothing weird." I said.

"Maybe seeing the maggots produced a psychological effect and your're only think your smelling something weird." I added half-jokingly.

Fiqi merely shrugged her shoulders, a worried expression still marring her features.

Finally, deducing from her position when the first maggot fell and looking at possible cracks, I figured out that the maggot would have fallen out from her light fixture or somewhere around it.

We decided to put the cover back over the lamp in an attempt to catch anymore falling maggots and hopefully, make Fiqi's room once again maggot free. She had climbed a cabinet in order to be able to reach the light fixture and I was holding it steady for her when suddenly, I saw something move near the edge of the light fixture.

My eyes widened in shock and disgust when I realized that it was another maggot. Slowly it moved, almost languidly, towards the edge, and fell.

"Yuck. Fiqi another one just fell!"

Fiqi's eyes widened in horror.

"Where is it? Where is it? Yuck!!" she cried, getting off the cabinet in a hurry and running her hands through her hair.

Panic hit the room as we tried to figure out where it had fallen and that it hadn't fallen on her hair, oh please not on her hair...

But we were safe. It had fallen behind her and had landed on the floor. I informed Fiqi and she came and joined me where I was leaning against the doorframe. Hesitant to enter the room.

"That was disgusting," she moaned. "Where is it?"

I pointed it out for her. Cursing softly under her breath, she proceeded to scoop it up with another piece of paper and squished it while I watched for anymore falling maggots when suddenly...it hit me.

A smell so foul I almost gagged. The smell of rotting flesh. Of decay.

Shock and disgust followed by a small feeling of despair flooded through me as I finally realized what it was and where the maggots had came from.

"Fiqi..."

She turned her head slightly to look at me.

"The kittens on our ceiling..."

She nodded cautiously.

"One died above your ceiling and the maggots from it's body is falling into your room."

The silence was permeated with a rotten smell.

*********************************************************************************

Hmm....that actually happened. Just a few nights ago.

Maggots!!!

We called the handyman who's in charge of maintaining the house for the owner. He came in the afternoon the next day, climbed up into the attic and got rid of the kittens. I say kittens because there were actually two dead kittens on our ceiling. One was still alive but ran away when he tried to catch it. Please don't let it die up there too. We think they probably died of starvation. We have no idea how their mom got them in there and neither of us could climb up into the attic because none of us actually knew how.

On another note, my english essay writing fails so spectacularly, it deserves fireworks to burn it out of existence. I just wanted to practice it and see how it goes. That's why i decided to write this entry out in this format. I'm out of practice. Rusty. I realize I haven't written a story in more than a year. This tells me how much I fail.

Seriously long and pointless entry. XD

p/s story might contain embellishments to make it a fun read and some censoring because I tend to curse a lot when surprised. But really, that was mostly what happened.
